Justin Butterfield took the minutes. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Opens: - None. ------------- Review of ARs: - Hansel to draft a BIRD for his proposed change to the text defining Rx_Clock_Recovery_Mean. - Arpad noted the BIRD is started, but the draft is not yet complete. -------------------------- Call for patent disclosure: - None. ------------------------- Review of Meeting Minutes: Arpad asked for any comments or corrections to the minutes of the June 9 meeting. Randy moved to approve the minutes. Lance seconded the motion. There were no objections. ------------- New Discussion: Editorial change to Rx_Clock_Recovery_Mean: Arpad noted the BIRD started out with the Rx_Clock_Recovery_Mean parameter, but there were more instances to consider. Hansel reviewed the editorial change from the phrase "consecutive edge transition times" to "edge threshold crossing times". Hansel noted there were 6 instances of "edge transition times" in the IBIS specification. He proposed to make this a global change for all the instances of "edge transition times" to "edge threshold crossing times". Arpad agree this would be a good idea. Hansel shared a simple BIRD to make this change. Arpad commented it is not necessary to replace the word "edge" with "edge". Hansel stated the first two occurrences are in the Rx_Clock_Recovery_Mean parameter. He asked if we need separate BIRDs for the changes to the other sections. Arpad recommended to keep all the changes in one BIRD. Hansel will redraft the BIRD to add the other instances. Randy asked about the Definition of the Issue in the draft and noted that "edge transition times" is not clear language. Arpad suggested to say "transition times" can mean different things and the term is not used properly. He noted the definition of "transition times" is different than what is used in the IBIS specification. Arpad suggested to change the title of the BIRD, since it is no longer focused on Rx_Clock_Recovery_Mean. Hansel changed the title to: Clarification of Text for Transition Time. Fangyi asked about the change to the Modulation section 10.7 and the mention of zero crossing time. He asked if this is the intent of what the specification is saying here. Arpad noted it might be redundant to say both zero crossing time and edge threshold crossing time. Fangyi suggested to keep only the second half of this sentence. Arpad asked if it is enough to change the last sentence only. Fangyi suggested to delete the sentences starting with "For NRZ". Arpad asked if we should keep the PAM4 sentence. Fangyi suggested to delete this as well. Hansel will add the deletion of the second half of the section 10.7 introduction in the new BIRD. BIRD198.2_draft3: Randy noted the BIRD authors sent a draft3 with the requested changes and fix to the figure. We can review it in detail next week. Randy would like to introduce this BIRD in the June 26 IBIS Open Forum meeting. BIRD181.2_draft2: Bob noted there is no update on this. - Randy: Motion to adjourn. - Curtis: Second. - Arpad: Thank you all for joining. AR: Hansel to redraft the Rx_Clock_Recovery_Mean BIRD to add the other instances of the "edge transition times" language. AR: Hansel to add the deletion of the second half of the section 10.7 introduction in the new BIRD. ------------- Next meeting: 23 June 2020 12:00pm PT ------------- IBIS Interconnect SPICE Wish List: 1) Simulator directives
